Kate Moss reveals why she testified in Johhny Depp trial
The model dated the Hollywood actor in the late 90s
Kate Moss, the ex-girlfriend of Johnny Depp, has spoken out about why she testified for the actor in his recent public libel case against actress Amber Heard.
The 90s supermodel took to the stand in May, to deny Amber Heard's claims that, when they dated, Depp had pushed her down the stairs.
The very public trial, where Johnny Depp sued his ex-wife for $50 million, finally ended in June, and now Moss has opened up about why she came forward and that she 'knows the truth'.
The model, who has given up her partying ways and moved to the Cotswolds with photographer partner Nikolai von Bismarck, spoke on a recent podcast about the trial.
The 48-year-old star, who dated Depp between 1994 and 98 told Lauren Laverne on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, “I know the truth about Johnny. I know he never kicked me down the stairs. I had to say that truth.”
Kate, who in the same podcast revealed she was targetted by predators as a young model, took to the stand in May, via video link to give evidence about Johnny Depp's character.
Describing what happened, at the time, she said, "We were leaving the room, Johnny left before I did, and there had been a rain storm. As I left the room, I slid down the stairs and I hurt my back."

“I screamed because I didn’t know what had happened to me and I was in pain. He came running back to help me and carried me back to my room, and got me medical attention.”
The mother of one, who was part of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations recently, also went on to clarify that Depp, “never pushed me, kicked me, or threw me down any stairs”.
The trial, which played out on a live stream, was watched by millions every day - as the Pirates of the Caribbean star sued his former wife for defamation - after a 2018 opinion piece she wrote claiming that he had abused her. A jury favoured Depp's side of the story - and he won $10 million in damages.
On the same podcast, Moss opened up about her experiences as a young model - where she faced some horrible situations. She said, "I had a horrible experience for a bra catalog and I was only 15 probably and he said, 'take your top off', and I took my top off. And I was really shy then about my body. And he said 'take your bra off,' and I could feel there was something wrong so I got my stuff and I ran away."
