Jamie Lee Curtis expresses her ‘wonder and pride’ as she reveals her youngest child is transgender
Jamie Lee Curtis has celebrated her youngest child's transgender journey in a touching new interview
Jamie Lee Curtis has proudly announced that her youngest daughter is transgender in a candid new interview.
The Hollywood actor shared a rare update on her private family life, revealing that her 25-year-old daughter, Ruby, is a transgender woman.
Speaking on behalf of herself and her husband Christopher Guest, she told AARP, "We have watched in wonder and pride as our son became our daughter Ruby." Jamie Lee also made a special announcement about her daughter's future, confirming that she is engaged to be married in 2022. If that wasn't exciting enough, the Freaky Friday star will be the one to conduct the ceremony.
"She and her fiancé will get married next year at a wedding that I will officiate," the Freaky Friday star said.

Computer games editor Ruby is the younger sister of Jamie Lee and Christopher's 34-year-old daughter, Annie, who is married and works as a dance instructor. The siblings occasionally accompanied their famous mother to red carpet events over the decades, but have chosen to stay out of the spotlight for the most part. As for grandkids, neither Ruby nor Annie have had children - but Jamie Lee hopes it's just a matter of time.
"Not yet, but I do hope to," she said.
As the daughter of parents who divorced several times, Jamie Lee didn't have the most stable upbringing. Her difficult background has only made her more empathetic to children, which may explain why she's so understanding towards her own daughter's journey.

"There is nothing harder than being a child,” she said. “and I am a product of a lot of divorces. Janet [her mother] married four times, Bob [her stepfather] four, and Tony [her father] six. It is what it is, but I think, as a result, I have always had a feeling for vulnerable children.”
At this point of her life, the Halloween star doesn't have space for negativity. Jamie Lee Curtis shared her battle with addiction in a moving message to fans last February, celebrating 22 years of sobriety after struggling with prescription drugs and alcohol early in her career. More recently, she has been working on her relationships with others, eliminating "vampire" friends she no longer needs in her life. She added that she's in a "constant metamorphosis", always looking to evolve and grown.
“I am somebody who sheds every day,” she said. “Let's get rid of that, I don't need that. It's all about old ideas that don't work anymore.”
