Great British Bake Off fans in tears after finalist proposes on-air
Great British Bake Off finalist Dave Friday proposed to his girlfriend Stacey Valentine
Great British Bake Off fans were in tears on Friday night after finalist Dave Friday proposed to his girlfriend Stacey Valentine during spin off show An Extra Slice.
Dave, who came runner-up in the latest series, shocked Stacey and viewers after he got down on one knee to pop the question to his surprised girlfriend.
After being given the cue by host Jo Brand, Dave turned to Stacey, who was sat in the audience, and began a very romantic speech.
He said: "So this has been a very memorable year. Obviously the birth of our baby boy Ronnie, being selected to be on the Bake Off.
"I wanted to start the next chapter of our lives together… So Stacey Lynne Valentine, I love you from the bottom of my heart. Will you marry me?"
She said yes! Congratulations, Dave and Stacey. #ExtraSlice pic.twitter.com/Rbqq5c59HxNovember 27, 2020
Without hesitation, Stacey answered 'yes" as confetti rained down on them on stage while the audience cheered loudly for the happy couple.
Fans of GBBO soon flooded Twitter with congratulatory messages, with one writing: "How sweet was that moment! Congratulations Dave and Stacey."

While another penned: "I will never forget about this. How romantic!" A third added: "Made me cry, so sweet. GBBO continues to heal 2020."
The sentiment was shared by many others on the social networking site, as a fourth added: "I'm not crying you're crying!" And a fifth wrote: "I am an utter shambles."
The proposal will come as more happy news for the couple after they welcomed their first baby son, Ronnie, earlier this year.
