Gilmore Girls star Lauren Graham reveals surprising contract clause that’s promising for all Lorelai fans
Gilmore Girls' Lauren ensures she has a 'window' of time just in case
Gilmore Girls star Lauren Graham has opened up about a surprising clause she has written into her contracts for all other jobs, just in case she reprises her iconic role as Lorelai Gilmore.
The hit 2000s show saw Lauren playing Lorelai opposite Alexis Bledel as her on-screen daughter Rory. Throughout the show’s run, we all fell in love with this relatable mother and daughter duo, watching them grow, laugh and cry their way across seven seasons. If you haven’t yet caught up on this incredible series, then grab your best pillow and blanket and settle down for a binge-watching session.
Although the series has been brought back briefly with Netflix’s Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, we can’t help hoping to see Lauren and Alexis reprise their much-loved roles again.

And it seems Lauren is more than ready to get on board with any potential Gilmore Girls projects. Speaking recently, the show’s star has revealed she has a special clause added into her other work contracts in order to be available to step into Lorelai’s shoes once more if there is another series spinoff.
As reported by Us Weekly, she told SiriusXM’s Jessica Shaw: “I put that window into all my new jobs just in case.”
But Lauren was also keen not to raise any Gilmore Girls fans’ hopes, explaining: “And it’s not — I don’t want to start any new rumors — it’s not for any concrete reason.”
Why does Lauren Graham have this Gilmore Girls contract clause?
Lauren also opened up on her great relationship with the show’s creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and how this inspired her decision to push for this clause in other work contracts.

“I have a loyalty and an openness to working with her, first of all. And because we could never have predicted [a revival] in the past,” she said. “So that door is open. Is it creatively warranted? Is it, you know, something? I don’t know. I don’t know. But yes, technically yes.”
She added that having the Gilmore Girls stipulation allows her to “carve out some pockets [of time] just in case.”

Whilst Lauren may not have confirmed anything concrete, fans of the show will no doubt be delighted to hear that she is on board if something does come up. And after watching her play independent single mom Lorelai for seven years on the show, we can’t help hoping for another special.
Until then, we’ll just have to enjoy Gilmore Girls all over again!
