After fifteen years together, beloved celebrity couple Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet announced that they are "parting ways in marriage."

"We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times… A revolution is unfolding and our family is of no exception… feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring," the former couple said in a joint statement posted on Jason’s Instagram account. "And so we share our family news that we are parting ways in marriage."

The post goes on, "We share this not because we think it's newsworthy but so that as we go about our lives we may do so with dignity and honesty. The love between us carries on, evolving in ways it wishes to be known and lived. We free each other to be who we are learning to become. Our devotion unwavering to this sacred life and our children. Teaching our children what's possible. Living the Prayer. May Love Prevail."

In addition to the statement, the social media post included a slew of peaceful-looking photos—like the image of a person holding a baby bird and another one depicting a beautiful sunset.

The announcement was obviously met with surprise and devastation by the couple’s fans across the world—but some reactions seen on social media were actually hilarious and helped to cheer us up.

"Pete Davidson already dating Lisa Bonet AND Jason Momoa," one user said.

“Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet are getting divorced because there’s not enough space in a home for all that hotness,” another post reads.

“I was wondering who the hell Lisa Bonet was gonna upgrade to from Lenny Kravitz and Jason Momoa …. and then I saw Brad Pitt trending,” a Twitter user joked.

Are people sad? Yes—the couple was a beloved one… but they’re dealing with that sadness in really funny ways.

HOW LONG WERE JASON MOMOA AND LISA BONET TOGETHER?

Jason, 42, and Lisa, 54, were introduced by mutual friends at a jazz club and started dating in 2005.

"We just happened to be in the right place at the right time," the Games of Thrones actor said about their first date during an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden some time later. "I actually had dreaded my hair for her. I had dreadlocks, she had dreadlocks. I literally turned around and I see her and she goes, 'I'm Lisa.' I turned around to my friend and I [pretended to scream]. I had fucking fireworks going off inside, man. I convinced her to take me home, because I was living in a hotel."

He went on to describe their date at Cafe 101 in New York, where Lisa ordered a Guinness. "I beyond love Guinness," Jason told James during his appearance. "We had Guinness and grits, and the rest is history."

That history includes two kids. In July of 2007, the couple welcomed their daughter Lola. A year later, in December of 2008, they had Nakoa-Wolf. Lisa is also Zoë Kravitz's mother, whom she had with her ex-husband Lenny Kravitz.

Although together since 2005, Jason and Lisa didn't actually marry until October of 2017.

The news regarding their split comes as a shock especially when re-exploring some of Jason’s most quoted thoughts about his former wife.

"She's my dream woman," he said to the Huffington Post back in 2016. Three years later, in a cover story for Esquire, he said: "If someone says something isn't possible, I'm like, 'Listen here, I married Lisa Bonet. Anything is f—ing possible." Clearly, things change.
