Everything we're excited about from the new Cinderella trailer
Get ready for a new take on the classic fairytale
The first teaser trailer for Amazon Studio's Cinderella has debuted—and it's as magical as you would think.
Most of us know and love the classic story of Cinderella, but be prepared to see it get another contemporary twist. This new version of the fairytale is in no way affiliated with Disney, but we can still expect a film filled with music, singing, and dancing.
Camila Cabello stars as princess "Ella," who starts out as a peasant with big dreams. With a passion for dressmaking, she longs to become a famous designer where she'll sell some of the best dresses the kingdom can buy.
In this edition of the fabled story, Cinderella is getting the glow-up with an aspiring, entrepreneurial side of her character shining through. None other than Broadway legend Billy Porter are here to help her through this growth too, playing her fairy godfather, or "Fab G."
The last remake, by Disney, left us with some magical Cinderella moments by Lily James, but based on this new trailer, the updated version brings both magic and laughter.

In the past, it seems as though Cinderella focused more on being humble and kind. While Camila's character still brings that adoration for others, she also has aspirations that go further from only wanting to attend a ball.

"This is it. Soon everyone will know my name—Dresses by Ella," she says in the trailer. "Life outside this basement starts now."
From the preview scenes, it looks as if we can still expect a fairytale romance though. Ella does go to the ball, and yes, there is a handsome prince she captures the attention of. At its core though, the updated story aims to provide us with more than a girl looking to be rescued by a prince. Instead, it's offering audiences of all ages a new perspective one in which the main female character is career-driven, and isn't afraid to speak her mind.
We see this when Billy's character asks Cinderella if she wants to go to the ball, to which she responds with, "yes, I was just crying and singing about it two minutes ago." Something our original Cinderella would have never done.
The movie was written and directed by Pitch Perfect's Kay Cannon and will feature Idina Menzel, Minnie Driver, Nicholas Galitzine, and Pierce Brosnan alongside Camila and Billy.
As of now there a release date hasn't been announced, but we can expect the movie to be available worldwide on Amazon Prime Video.
