Drew Barrymore has revealed she once drunkenly "made out" with Hugh Grant, after bumping into him unexpectantly at a New York clubhouse.

Speaking with Hugh on the Drew Barrymore Show, the actress-turned TV host recalled the passionate encounter from "years ago"—much to the amusement of her British interviewee.

The A-list pair first met on the set of their 2007 romcom, Music and Lyrics, and have remained friends ever since. Although admittedly both very "different" people, their on-screen chemistry seems to have spilled their off-screen relationship—as proven in their impromptu makeout sesh.

"I ran into you and instead of saying hello I grabbed you by the collar, and I fully started kissing you," Drew recalled. The sensual meeting, which took place at the elite Waverly Inn in Manhattan, instantly rang a bell with Hugh.

"Yes, I remember that," he replied with a cheeky grin.

However, one thing Hugh didn't remember was Drew's impression of his reaction. According to The Stand-In star, the English actor pulled a face in response to the surprise smooch. Drew, who recently explained why she's never had plastic surgery, had no trouble recreating her former costar's bemused look at the time.

"I don't think that's true," he cut in.

"The expression was, you've never greeted me that way before," Drew clarified. "And then you had a second thought and you were like, 'You know, I'm not hating this.' And then we flirted and then it was like, 'Ok yeah bye, see you soon!'"

Hugh, who was also in a bit of stupor at the time, added that the interaction was "really bizarre." The experience was made all the more interesting by the fact that the intoxicated performance had a sober audience of high-profile business people.

"I was very drunk as well and I was with some very nice but not drunk studio executives from LA," he revealed. "They were very surprised. Someone said, 'Oh, there's Drew Barrymore.' I get up to say hi. And then we make out for 10 minutes."

While the two shared a hearty laugh over the hilarious memory, it doesn't look like they'll be locking lips again any time soon. When Drew asked Hugh about his family, he was quick to speak fondly about his wife, Anna Elisabet Eberstein, who he married in 2018.

"I have a top wife," he revealed. "You must meet her, she's terrifying." Hugh is also the father of five children, a responsibility that has made him both "utterly exhausted and miserable" and "the happiest he's ever been."
