Could new period drama The Nevers be the next Bridgerton?
The Nevers is a new Victorian period drama starring Granchester’s James Norton
The new Victorian drama, The Nevers, could be the perfect new period drama for us all to binge watch - and it has a very interesting twist...
If you are anything like us, you binge-watched all of Bridgerton in one night and now you are desperate for a second season. Devastatingly, Bridgerton isn’t going to be gracing our screens any time soon so there is a large period-drama-shaped hole in our lives. But don’t stress! A new series starring James Norton might just be the perfect fix for a bit of dramatic Victorian action.
Unlike most period dramas, The Nevers will not follow conventional tropes and has a bit of an unusual twist. Sky revealed, “The series is described as a sci-fi epic about a gang of Victorian women who find themselves with unusual abilities, relentless enemies, and a mission that might change the world.”
This series has an interesting twist, much like 'Game of Thrones' and 'The Witcher', and even Netflix’s latest hit, 'Behind her Eyes'. The twist is that there will be a supernatural, sci-fi element to this drama series.

Where can I watch The Nevers?
The series will air on Sunday, April 11, 2021, on HBO and will consist of six hour-long episodes that will span over six Sundays.
It will also be available of HBO’s streaming service, HBO Max. In the UK, the series will be available on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in Spring 2021.
What's the plot of The Nevers?
In The Nevers, history is re-written, and supernatural powers are given to certain individuals who are labeled at the “touched” and are considered “afflicted.” The trailer promises that the new show will be action-packed and we will witness Victorian women in fistfights - fantastic!
The show was co-written by Joss Whedon, the creator of 'The Buffy the Vampire Slayer'. However, he departed from the new series at the end of 2020. An HBO spokesperson stated, “We have parted ways with Joss Whedon. We remain excited about the future of ‘The Nevers’ and look forward to its premiere.” Whedon has recently been accused of abusing his power while on set with young actresses and many former stars have come forward against him.
