Christina Applegate made her first public appearance since revealing her Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis, as she received a star on the Hollywood walk of fame.
In August 2021, Christina Applegate revealed her multiple sclerosis diagnosis on Twitter as she announced, "A few months ago I was diagnosed with MS. It’s been a strange journey. But I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition. It’s been a tough road." Despite this diagnosis, the star has continued working and promoting the latest installment of her Netflix show Dead to Me Season 3.
On Monday, November 14, the star made a bold move as she made her first public appearance since her diagnosis as she attended an awards ceremony held in her honor at the Hollywood walk of fame. Dressed in an all-black ensemble, the actress used a cane to help her stand, and went without shoes.
The star posed on the star with bare feet as she explained that she felt uncomfortable in shoes. "Barefoot. For some with MS the feeling of shoes may hurt or make us feel off balance. So today I was me. Barefoot," said Christina on social media.

The star was surrounded by her friends, family, and even her co-star, Linda Cardellini, who she stars opposite in Dead To Me.
Linda even gave a speech to her "incredible friend" as she called Christina a "brilliant artist" and added, "her comedic timing is beyond perfection, her humor, her humility, and her honesty, has captivated all of us for so many years."
In a speech at the ceremony, Christina used her cane and made a brief speech. The actor explained that her illness meant that it was difficult for her to stand for a long time, so she used a cane and was supported by her friend, fellow actor Katey Sagal. Katey played her mother on the hit show, Married ... with Children, the show that kick started Christina's career.

In the speech, Christina thanked the people around her who have supported her career and more recently, her life-changing diagnosis.
"The most important person in this world is my daughter," said Christina as she cried and spoke about her 11-year-old daughter, "You are so much more than even you know. You are so beautiful and kind and loving, and smart and interesting. I’m blessed every day that I get to wake up and take you to school…thank you for standing by me through all of this."
The actor then joked about her condition, "Oh, by the way, I have a disease. Did you not notice? I'm not even wearing shoes!"
The actor then concluded by saying, "Thank you this is an incredible honor." She was escorted by Katey to her star on the walk of fame. Despite clearly being in pain, the star was still cracking jokes and clearly enjoyed the highly emotive celebration, held in her honor.
