Doc Martin’s Caroline Catz Reveals Details Of Her New TV Series
Caroline Catz is back and we're already excited...
Doc Martin's Caroline Catz, 45, is returning to our screens this month in brand new six-part romantic comedy, I Want My Wife Back.
Feeling unfulfilled in her marriage to kind-hearted Murray (Ben Miller), her character, Bex, walks out on her 40th birthday. Still in love with her, Murray makes it his mission to do everything he can to win her back. We caught up with Caroline Catz to find out more about the series...
What can we expect from I Want My Wife Back?
We enter Bex's life at the most chaotic moment - her husband Murray misses her birthday breakfast due to work commitments and there's a long history of him not being around - it's not that he doesn't love her, he just can't say no to anyone. She walks out, but unbeknownst to her, Murray was actually planning a surprise party that evening all along - and when she sneaks back to the house to pick something up, everybody's waiting! It's a funny take on a sad situation.
Can you relate to Bex at all?
She's an overworked, stressed-out nurse and when she finally has time off, Murray's always cycling or golfing. It's as though they don't have time for each other, which I'm sure we can all relate to. When is there ever any space to stop and just potter about? I'm definitely guilty of trying to burn the candle at both ends.

The last time I met Ben [Miller], he was playing a man who thought he was a giant squirrel in Doc Martin, so it was quite amusing meeting him as a ‘human being' - we had a lot of fun together. One of the most exciting moments was filming a charity auction for episode three - they managed to get Joanna Lumley to give a prize; in fact, she became the prize!
What's next for you?
I'm currently filming the fifth series of DCI Banks for ITV - I always really enjoy that job, even though my character DI Helen Morton is much more rigid than Bex - and not very popular! I believe there's another series of Doc Martin around the corner too.
I Want My Wife Back starts on BBC One, Monday 18th April at 9.30pm.
