Carey Mulligan gushes over Promising Young Woman director during her red carpet interview
'She is exceptional'

Audiences have been gushing over Promising Young Woman—and so have the stars. The critically acclaimed film, which tells the raw story of a cunning woman searching to right the wrongs from the past, took home the much-deserved award for best original screenplay at the Oscars.
The Emerald Fennell-directed film took a record 23 days to complete and has been making headlines ever since. (We've personally streamed quite a few times.) When Carey Mulligan, the star of the movie, hit the red carpet, she took a moment to gush over Emerald and detailed how their collaboration began. From the moment the two connected in London over coffee, something special began brewing.
"You can see how talented she is," Carey said. "She is exceptional. She's also just the best person."
Emerald is also incredibly talented, scooping the award for the best original screenplay. Her movie is also one of the eight selections up for best picture.

What's really exciting is that Emerald is also part of a historic nomination as well: joining the ranks of Chloé Zhao (Nomadland) and Regina King (One Night in Miami), Emerald is one of the three women who was nominated for the best director at the Golden Globes, the first time ever that more women were up for the honor than men.
The highly-acclaimed film follows a former medical school student, Cassie, whose life took a turn after a traumatic event. That's when she spends her whole life and goes on a quest for vengeance.

Variety has called it an "arresting, blackly comedic quasi-thriller for the MeToo age.”
If your interest has been piqued, we'll tell you how to watch the movie, no matter your location.
