Marilyn Monroe and Charlie Chaplin Jr had a very interesting relationship that was portrayed in Netflix's Blonde, but what's the real story?
Marilyn Monroe and Charlie Chaplin Jr's relationship is a crucial plotline in the new film Blonde, and fans want to know more about their alleged relationship.
Following the release of Netflix's Blonde, a number of questions are haunting fans such as; Who was Marilyn Monroe's father, and what happened to him? Who was Marilyn's first husband? and What was really going on between Marilyn Monroe and Charlie 'Cass' Chaplin Jr?
Here is the truth about Marilyn Monroe and Charlie Chaplin Jr's relationship, and how Edward J Robinson was really involved in all of this...
Was Marilyn Monroe in a throuple with Charlies Chaplin's son and Edward G Robinson
A semi-fictionalised account of Marilyn Monroe's life was portrayed in Netflix's Blonde and it was suggested that the actress was in a three-way relationship with Charlie 'Cass' Chaplin Jr and Edward J Robinson. But was Marilyn ever in a relationship with Cass and Eddy?
There is some suggestion that Marilyn may have briefly dated both Cass and Eddy in real life, but at separate times. In a biography about her life titled, 'Goddess: The Secret Lives of Marilyn Monroe,' the author details her brief relationship with Cass and the occasion she met his parents for lunch in 1947. When her relationship with Cass ended, Marilyn met Eddy and the two had a very brief relationship that soon became just a friendship.
It is thought that the trio then became friends and would often spend time together, but a romantic relationship was not established or ever evidenced. This suggests that the relationship shown on screen between the three was perhaps a fictionalized imagined version of events that could have taken place, rather than the historical truth.

It was also rumored that she had several abortions in her lifetime, but this was never evidenced and her post-mortem autopsy report also failed to corroborate this narrative about her supposed medical procedures to end a pregnancy.
Who was Marilyn Monroe's first husband?
Marilyn Monroe's first husband was James Dougherty. The star married James, a factory worker, soon after she turned 16 and he was 21. James was neighbors with Marilyn's foster family and after marrying him she dropped out of school and became a housewife. After his marriage to Marilyn, James married again to a woman named Patricia with whom he had three daughters. He then divorced and married another woman named Rita. James died in 2005 at the age of 84 after a successful career in the military and the police force.
