The Grand National might be the main event at Aintree this weekend, but first it's all about the fashion at Ladies Day...
It's that time of the year again when we all enjoy a little flutter, hoping to win big on the Grand National. But, before tomorrow's main event, Aintree race course has been transformed in to a sea of colourful dresses and jawdropping hats for another annual highlight, Aintree Ladies Day.
Aintree Ladies Day is always a veritable fashion feast. Ensembles often range from the sublime (this stylish trio) to the ridiculous (we'll let you make up your own mind about that!) - and this year is expected to be no exception.
Some racegoers have taken a less conservative approach to the 'smart' dress code so far by donning skyscraper heels pared with daring frocks to watch the action. We'll no doubt see more of the same today.
Forty-five thousand spectators are expected to pass through the turnstiles today for the event which sold out months in advance. Bookies are also expecting to be busy as they ready themselves for the Grand National tomorrow. Paddy Power is tipping Shutthefrontdoor (7/1 odds), Rocky Creek (9/1) and Balthazar King (10/1) as the favourites for the race, which takes place tomorrow at 3pm.
