Aidan Turner reveals what’s next after Poldark Season 5

Poldark

Following a successful five-season run, BBC’s Poldark is coming to an end - but Aidan Turner has exciting news for fans.

The 36-year-old, who plays titular character Poldark, has confirmed he won’t be ruling out another period drama if the opportunity arises. However, he’d like to try something new.

Speaking to the Radio Times, the actor said, "It's sort of my duty, I suppose, to break that mould now and move on to something different”. We’d love to see him in more period dramas, but we’re definitely excited to see what other roles he can conquer.

Despite being open-minded, Aidan’s not keen on the idea of playing a Marvel superhero due to the fact there’s “too much makeup involved”.

Aidan’s role as popular Captain Ross Poldark was adapted from a series of historical novels by Winston Graham. The BBC series has been a hit amongst fans, and has helped to elevate his career.

Before playing Poldark, the actor has also starred in BBC’s comedy drama Being Human, and has even been on the big screen in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

His first TV role was The Tudors, where he played Bedoli. He was only on-screen for 52 seconds though, so blink and you’ll miss him!

Poldark is due to return in the summer, with filming officially wrapping up earlier this year. Aidan’s co-star Eleanor Tomlinson took to Instagram to share this sweet snap on the last day of filming.

In her caption, the actress wrote, “Life is precious and should not be scorned. The thing is to find some purpose, to go on living.” Goodbye Poldark. Thank you to the incredible cast and crew that have made this series over the last 5 years. What a family we are ♥️ #poldark #theend #friends."

Although Poldark will be missed, we can’t wait to see Aidan Turner on our screens soon. Who knows who he’ll play next?
