Adele finalizes her divorce from Simon Konecki after a two-year battle over finances

Adele has finalized her divorce from Simon Konecki after a two-year battle over their finances.

The multi-million-pound singer and Simon, who is CEO of Drop4Drop charity that provides drinking water to developing countries, split in April 2019 after more than seven years together.

But the singer and her ex, who split amicably, are said to have struggled to agree on how their finances would be divided up, until yesterday, Thursday 3rd March, when the settlement was finalized, bringing an end to their marriage.

Adele, 32, has spent the last two years in talks over finances but according to US Weekly magazine, the settlement was filed with a Los Angeles court last month and signed off by a judge yesterday.

The couple had already agreed to share the custody of their son Angelo, eight, and will divide up an estimated $190 million fortune.

The Someone Like You hit-maker started secretly dating Simon in 2011, keeping details of their relationship out of the public eye. But just four years later, Adele appeared more confident in sharing that she had ‘never been happier’. 

Speaking of Simon, now 46, at the time she gushed, ‘Being in such an amazing relationship with someone that’s so there for me and so loyal and is really part of my core now, that’s what made me write about everything I’ve ever done because I’ve got his love.’

Rumours that the pair had split started circulating in 2019 when Simon turned up alone to the Brit Awards. Adele has a mansion in LA, plus properties in London’s plush area of Kensington and in Brighton in the UK.

Meanwhile, the singer, who is estimated to have lost seven stone in recent months, has been linked to rapper Skepta following a playful exchange on social media and is said to be working on a new album but she is not expected to sing about her ex.

Simon and Adele represented themselves in the divorce case but chose to use mediators to reach the final financial settlement which is said to include an assessment of a £34.7 million property portfolio.

Adele ensured the divorce details would be kept private after successfully appealing to the court for a confidentiality agreement. And when they first split, a representative for the singer confirmed, "Adele and her partner have separated. They are committed to raising their son together lovingly. As always they ask for privacy.”
