New release from Normal People author Sally Rooney to come this autumn: what can we expect?
We can hardly wait
November will see a stunning new release from Sally Rooney, complete with screenplays and stills from the popular series.
Scheduled for release on 12 November, this gorgeous coffee table book is a must-have for any Normal People fans.
With the BBC series proving to be one of the most popular book-to-television adaptations around, it’s no surprise that people are keen for the inside track on how it was done.
And with Normal People: The Scripts, author Sally Rooney looks set to do just that.
What's the new Normal People book about?
Having worked on the scripts along with Alice Birch and Mark O’Rowe to adapt her breathtaking novel for television, Rooney will release the complete screenplays of the series.
This new book will also feature an exclusive introduction from series director Lenny Abrahamson, as well as a selection of the most iconic still images from the show.
The series which had audiences captivated throughout lockdown, starred Daisy Edgar Jones and Paul Mescal as Marianne and Connell. Following their relationship as they enter adulthood, the way in which the series depicted themes such as love, mental health, sex and a feeling of displacement made for memorable viewing.

What's next for Sally Rooney?
Normal People was only Sally Rooney's second novel, yet she has achieved huge success and acclaim. And whilst fans might be waiting a little longer for her next emotional read, she announced earlier this year that her first novel, Conversations with Friends, is due to be adapted for screen.
With the same director and creative team as Normal People, this new series is set to premiere on BBC 3 in the UK. Casting decisions are yet to be announced, though there has been much speculation and many more suggestions being voiced on Twitter.
No official premiere date has been set and with the filming of many television series and films delayed due to covid-19, it’s not clear exactly when this adaptation will hit our screens.
In the meantime, we will just have to immerse ourselves once more in the wonderful world of Normal People. With Sally Rooney’s new book published just in time for Christmas, this makes for the perfect gift for all avid Normal People viewers!
Normal People: The Scripts by Sally Rooney, £12, Faber & Faber, is released 12 November 2020
