After a long hiatus, Fixer Upper is finally back
Everyone's favorite home renovation couple has returned to save the nation's most neglected properties.
Hallelujah! Everyone's favorite home makeover duo is back.
After a three-year break, Chip and Jo Gaines return to our screens on Friday, January 29, to help people in need of some serious DIY intervention with a new Fixer Upper series.
The home designers, who took time in 2018 to launch their own TV network, have resumed their mission to turn the nation's most dilapidated houses into bright family homes. Fixer Upper: Welcome Home will ditch the original show's property-hunting stage and focus solely on the renovation process in a fresh new format.
And boy, do some of these homes need renovation.
A sneak-peak of the upcoming series reveals just what Chip and Jo are up against this time around. In its first episode, the couple takes on a house that has been abandoned for 10 years. Its owners, newlyweds Luke and Lainey, are desperate for the Gaines' expertise but fear the house's state will scare them off.
And we don't blame them. In a disgusting teaser clip, viewers can see Chip and Jo navigating the decrepit house filled with garbage, rotten food, and — wait for it — human waste. This is not quite the Fixer Upper you remember!
“My eyes are starting to burn,” Jo says at one point, before quickly escaping the area. However, the foul atmosphere isn’t enough to deter Chip, who heads straight towards the scene of the feces.

“Just poop, on top of poop,” he observes.
The couple will also be joined by a special guest on Fixer Upper: Welcome Home. Their toddler Crew will be onsite to offer his parents advice and make the final call when the two inevitably disagree.

With a bigger budget and bigger projects, Fixer Upper fans can expect an upgraded version of the original show, with all of the same old antics from its resident goofball Chip.
Now that’s what we call a reboot.
Fixer Upper: Welcome Home will premiere on Discovery+ on January 29th, as a preview for Chip and Jo’s upcoming Magnolia Network. The network, which launches later this year, will air all of the Fixer Upper content and a bunch of other lifestyle programs.
