LG’s #CareForWhatYouWear campaign is encouraging you to cherish your clothes
And live a more sustainable life in the process...
With sustainability front of mind for many of us when it comes to our everyday choices, a great place to start working towards a more eco-conscious future is with the contents of our wardrobe. It’s no secret that fast fashion has a detrimental effect on the environment, with throwaway items contributing to more consumption, more waste, and more landfill. LG’s new campaign, #CareForWhatYouWear is encouraging the public to cherish their clothes and look after what they already own.
After all, clothes can have sentimental value for all of us. Those uncomfortable-but-fabulous shoes we tottered in on the first date with our partner, or that sequin dress we once wore to bring in the New Year somewhere far away and glamorous. Our fashion choices may change with the trends, but by investing in clothes that are built to last—and caring for them well—our closets become a treasure-trove of memories, as well as beautiful garments and accessories.
What is #MyCherishedClothes and #CareForWhatYouWear all about?
LG’s new campaign #CareForWhatYouWear is encouraging people to cherish the clothes they own—whether it’s a jacket from high school days or a special suit or evening gown—allowing them to tell the stories of their lives by making each item last. LG’s range of specially-designed appliances will help you most treasured items in premium condition, so they can journey with you through the decades into each stage of life.
Every second, the equivalent of a rubbish truckload of clothes is burnt or buried in a landfill. LG started the #CareForWhatYouWear campaign in 2020 to support responsible clothing care habits and curb waste. LG’s new initiative has the aim of meeting meeting ‘responsible consumption and production’ targets set out in Goal #12 of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
How the LG Styler could help you care for your clothes
LG’s innovative Styler will help you #CherishYourClothes for years to come, especially those higher-maintenance items that are made from special fabrics like silk, cashmere, and wool. LG Styler utilizes TrueSteam technology to gently refresh your clothes and remove 99.9% of allergens—all without harsh chemical detergents. This will save you energy and money in the long run and is kinder to the environment, as well as your clothes.
Highlights of the LG Styler S3WF Clothing Care System include:
- TrueSteam Technology—no detergent is needed for this nifty steam cleaner, meaning you won’t need to invest in harsh or potentially toxic chemicals. With steam alone, using TrueStream technology, LG’s Styler can remove 99.9% of bacteria and allergens and is approved by the British Allergy Foundation.
- Refresh option—save on energy and water costs by refreshing lightly worn items instead of completing a full wash. The unique moving hanger shakes off-odors and creases and TrueSteam Technology will sanitize your clothes by reducing allergens and bacteria up to 99.9%.
- Gentle Dry Fabric Protection—the LG Styler can provide a fast, yet caring drying process for delicate fabrics like silk and cashmere, or that special suit. This means there’s far less chance of shrinkage or damage to your clothes than with high-heat dryers.
