Best weight loss meal delivery services for easy eating this week
These are the best weight loss meal delivery services to try for delicious food made simple
If you're looking for the best weight loss meal delivery services, to kickstart a healthy eating regime or just liven up your eating plans for the next few weeks, then you've come to the right place. When it comes to losing weight, it's very easy to get bored eating the same meals day in and day out.
Sometimes you just need a little bit of inspiration. When it comes to weight loss, we all know that prioritizing filling macronutrients like protein and fiber is the way to go. They're slower to digest than others so you're more likely to feel fuller for longer, and snack less in between meals. But you can only eat so much chicken, fish and falafel before it all starts to taste the same.
That's where plans like the best weight loss meal delivery services can come in handy. They'll not only help you stay in a calorie deficit to lose weight but you can discover new and exciting recipes to make yourself at home again. We've rounded up our favorites, including popular plans like AllPlants and The Good Prep, to give you the lowdown on the best services to choose from.
How we tested our best weight loss meal delivery services
- Was nutritional information available? Even if you're opting for a higher-calorie meal, it's important to know the nutritional information of the food you're eating if you're trying to lose weight. So we tested whether it was easy to find the calorie, fiber, protein, and fat content of the meals in our selection.
- Lots of variety? If you wanted to eat the same chicken, rice, and broccoli every day, cooking for yourself at home would be much easier (and cheaper) than opting for delivery. For a service to be top-notch, there needs to be plenty of choice—whether that's in dietary requirements, ingredients or flavors.
- Was the ordering and delivery process easy? The whole point of a meal delivery service is to make your life easier, so our testers noted whether the choosing, checking out and delivery process was smooth with each of the services we tried.
- What's the packaging like? There's nothing worse than being stuck with mountains of packaging when you've unboxed your meals, so we rated these delivery services based on how the food arrived at our testers' doors.
- Does it work for weight loss? All of our testers have been trying to lose weight to some degree. Some have been sticking to a calorie deficit for the last few months while others are trying out different diets, like going vegan, to try and reduce their calorie intake. We asked them whether these meals fit into their lifestyle and whether they included some of the best foods for weight loss.
Best weight loss meal delivery services
1. The Good Prep

From the very first step, The Good Prep nails the game and so it's our top pick of the best weight loss meal delivery services. Their website is super easy to use, guiding you through the selection of breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and extras you can include in your box, with visible nutritional information and any additional costing.
Unlike some of the other services on our list, The Good Prep is designed to deliver high-performance food. So whether you aim to gain muscle while losing weight, maintain and gain muscle, or just lose weight, they offer a plan suitable for each goal.
Our tester tried the aptly-named Trim & Slim plan and found the meals to be top-notch—deliciously tasty, filling enough to see her through a heavy gym session, and unique in flavor. A particular highlight was the turmeric chicken with vermicelli noodles, a recipe our tester has since (attempted) to remake herself it was that good. While other winners included meals fit for a Mediterranean diet, like halloumi with root vegetables, chorizo patatas bravas, and pesto, feta and sundried tomato rigatoni—all under 500 calories.
And there's no need to sacrifice your favorite foods (ever, but The Good Prep makes it even easier not to). Highlights from the huge variety of breakfast choices include vegan or non-vegan peanut butter and Nutella bagels, banana pancakes, and waffles. While the snack selection is the smallest, it includes a good range of sweet and savory options for an additional cost.

While it's certainly one of the more expensive tops on our list of weight loss meal delivery services, we reckon that if you can afford to spend the extra money, it's certainly worth it.
2. Jane Plan

If you want low-calorie meals delivered to you at home that don't include a plan for over £100 per week, then this is one to choose. Jane Plan has been popular for years now for exactly this reason: giving people the option to have pre-made, relatively healthy meals at home for a reasonable cost.
The Jane Plan is a dedicated weight loss meal delivery service, meaning that the whole premise behind it is to help people lose weight. With each of the meals coming in at below 400 calories before you add fresh vegetables yourself, it's no surprise that it's a winner for those trying to stick to a larger calorie deficit.
We found a good variety of food options on the whole, with British favorites like slow-cooked beef in ale and chicken tikka masala alongside more unique meals like aloo saag and mushroom stroganoff.
There's no pretending that meals on the Jane Plan are fresh though, with use-by dates on many of the microwavable-style meals stamped for around a year from now. At times, the meals (especially tomato-based ones, our tester found) can also taste slightly artificial. But at such a reasonable price, some compromises have to be made. Plus, when it comes to Jane Plan vs Diet Chef, a very similar plan, this one comes out on top every time.

3. MunchFit

MunchFit was set up by Angus Fay, a former personal trainer, so for any Londoners looking to build muscle, this is definitely the plan to go for. It delivers high-protein snacks and meals without comprising on flavor or variety, i.e. there's no chicken, rice, and plain broccoli to see here. In fact, there are over 180 different recipes to choose from, our tester found, so you can create an eating plan with up to four different meals a day to suit your tastes.
We tried out the 'Lean' plan, specially designed for weight loss, with each of the meals sticking to low-carb, high-protein diet principles at around 450 calories per meal. But there's also the 'Balanced' plan for pre-and post-workout munching, the 'Strong' plan which is specifically high in protein, and the 'Green plan' which is plant-based. Whatever one you go for, you'll be eating low-calorie, restaurant-worthy meals.
The menu does stay the same for three months at a time, but the order that the meals arrive in changes every week. So if you don't like something, you have to change your choices otherwise you're stuck with it, but you always know what you're going to get. Some of the highlights for our tester included the raspberry and cashew bircher for breakfast, as it was surprisingly super filling, and the Mexican chicken breast with squash fries, rainbow slaw, and chipotle dressing for dinner.
Unlike many of the other services on our list that deliver all the meals at once, MunchFit tends to deliver every few days (Tuesday and Saturdays) so it's a good one to go for if you're lacking in fridge space or want to ensure that all your meals stay fresh.
4. Tweakd

If your meal planning has hit a dry wall, then Tweakd could definitely be for you. It's easy to get demotivated if you're eating the same meals every day but our tester was hugely impressed by the variety of meals offered by this weight loss delivery service, from jerk chicken thighs and Korean pork bao buns, to butternut and lentil lasagne and chili 'sin' carne (with vegan protein). So whether you're opting for the traditional menu or meat-free, you're bound to find something that you love.
Tweakd wasn't made specifically for those looking to lose weight, but it's the brainchild of founders who came from the world of creating peak performance. After cooking for national football teams (and the Spice Girls), Omar Meziane joined together with nutrition expert Michael Naylor to form a meal delivery service based entirely on the needs of those who use it.
And you can definitely see that with the meals on offer, our testers found. Sitting between the 400 and 800 calorie mark, there's so much choice and each meal is easily heated in the microwave, tastes fresh-from-the-kitchen, filling, and delicious without exception.
These services are supposed to make your life easier and Tweakd certainly does that too, offering you the ability to view the nutritional information of each meal, and you can add as many meals, snacks, and drinks into your box as you like, before a smooth check-out process.

If you're trying to lose weight, you don't have to miss out on delicious comfort food. After a week of working, meal prepping, and going to the gym, come Friday night, this was exactly what our tester wanted.
ByRuby was created by Leith's-trained chef, Ruby Bell, and her business partner Milly Bagot for exactly these moments too: when you're lacking in time, energy, or inspiration and just need a healthy, nutritious meal to pull out of the freezer.
All the food is made with seasonal, ethically-sourced produce as the pair work with some of Britain's best suppliers of free-range, organic meat, and they buy all of their fresh vegetables and ingredients daily from New Covent Garden Market in London before Ruby whips up the meals herself in their kitchen. The meals are then frozen on the same day to maintain freshness, without the need for any additives or preservatives.
Our tester tried the 'vegetarian bundle', which came complete with six pre-frozen ready meal-style dishes packed neatly in a medium-sized cardboard box, but there are several to choose from. Other options include a 'classic and comfort' box with British staples like chicken, leek and bacon pie, fish pie, and woodland mushroom risotto. While all the meals delivered on taste, our tester found the macaroni cheese and vegetable lasagne to be particular highlights.
Most of the meals are microwavable so they're ready in just minutes, while you'll need an oven to reheat some of the others. To keep the fresh flavors though, our tester found that it was worth the little extra time as the meals came out as if they'd been homemade from scratch.
6. AllPlants

Our tester tried a collection of meals from AllPlants and couldn't fault a single one. Whether it was a breakfast smoothie, pasta for lunch, or chili for dinner, the meal was delicious, low-calorie, and satiating—a winning combination to achieve for those trying to reduce their calorie intake.
Scrolling through Instagram, you've probably seen Allplants before. With their bright, bold and colorful packaging, they're difficult to miss and although it doesn't impact how the meals taste, the (totally recyclable boxes) certainly brighten up your day. Created on the founders' belief that the world would be better plant-based, AllPlants is a totally vegan meal delivery service. But you'd never know it with dishes like loaded 'bacon' mac and cheese, 'chicken' katsu curry, and rigatoni Bolognese on the menu.
All the dishes come frozen and take between six to 10 minutes in the microwave to heat up. Deliveries are available in boxes of six or 12 meals, based on whether it's just you eating or another person as well. This was particularly helpful for meal planning, our tester found, as the boxes of 12 come with two lots of the same meals so you can eat the same thing together.
When ordering from the website, you can choose sides, desserts, and smoothies as well as your meals. We reckon you'd struggle to make a week's worth of dinners from the six or 12 meals alone, so it's worth adding these if you don't mind spending a bit extra. Our tester loved the Mango and Turmeric Chia Pot, a great alternative to regular overnight oats, and the Salted Caramel Cheesecake was a dream dessert at less than 300 calories.
While AllPlants isn't one of our dedicated weight loss meal delivery services, each of the options on the menu is pretty low in calories. All the ones our tester tried came in at under 600 calories with many of them under 400. They're also high in fiber and packed with veggies, so you're certainly getting a balanced meal.
7. Mooli

If you're looking for something different from the high-protein, low-calorie options on the list, then Mooli Food could be for you. Each thali ('large plate' in Hindi) comes complete with everything you'll need for your favorite Indian dining experience at home, including two curries, a dal, salad, bread, and rice, and with a sweet treat to finish. On top of that, you'll also get the Thali plate for n authentic-feeling experience.
The 'House Thali' includes an aubergine and potato curry, butter chicken, spinach paneer, yellow lentil dal, spiced slaw, Indian flatbread, ghee rice, and rose syrup sponge pudding. At £35 for two people, our tester found that it was an amazing alternative to a restaurant or takeaway—and so delicious. Each of the curries and side dishes is made with fresh, all-natural ingredients and packed full of traditional spices, with no preservatives to be seen.
If you're not calorie-counting, the Mooli Food delivery is the best choice when it comes to ordering in. While you can be certain that you're eating fresh, healthy food packed with protein, fiber, and healthy fats from the list of ingredients, other nutritional information is not widely available.
8. HelloFresh

If you love cooking, you might not like the idea of having all your meals delivered pre-prepared and packaged, ready to eat. After trying out some of the other weight loss meal delivery services, our tester found HelloFresh's fresh ingredients and cooking instructions to be a welcome break from the microwave's ding.
With HelloFresh, you can choose between three meals and five meals per week, so you'll be sorted for dinners most nights if you opt for the more complete option. You can also choose to include ingredients for up to four people, so this plan's great if you're cooking for friends one evening or you've got other family members in your household.
While not all the meals are super weight loss-friendly, with an average count of around 750, there is a selection of 'Calorie Smart' meals that sit under 650 calories. But there's no compromising on variety, with a massive selection to choose from, all categorized so you can quickly flick through to find something you fancy. Honey lime spiced chicken? Thai veggie curry? Venison ragu? It's all here.
Delivery is a breeze too. If you're not in and can tell them in advance, HelloFresh will arrange for your delivery to be stored in a safe place, like a garage, round a corner, or left with a neighbor.
