Katie Holmes' layered outfit proves tonal dressing is fall's biggest trend
Donning a perfectly tailored white coat with a matching outfit underneath, actor Katie Holmes embodies the essence of fall in this wonderful outfit
New Yorker par excellence Katie Holmes was spotted walking around town just a few days ago wearing an impeccable fall outfit that has us re-imagining our entire seasonal closet.
Although Katie Holmes' warm blanket dress that she wore in NY heatwave back in July seems more appropriate for this week's weather, the 43-year-old actor opted for a more approachable outfit the day before Thanksgiving, when she was seen entering the Italian luxury store Falconeri in downtown New York wearing a perfectly-tailored white coat over a beige turtleneck sweater, which she matched with similarly colored wide-legged pants and white sneakers with orange detailing. The star looked effortlessly cool and comfortable, proving that tonal dressing might become the season's most sought-after trend.

Katie’s coat game has always been pretty strong, which doesn’t surprise us, considering she’s a die-hard New York resident who has had to deal with the city’s chilly winters for years now.
In addition to this white number, her closet is filled with other iconic options, including this Mango coat that's a winter must-have and a classic black wool coat that she wore earlier this week with casual jeans, a ribbed turtleneck sweater, the above mentioned sneakers with orange stitching and a tan cashmere scarf with fringe ends that she wrapped around her neck. Dare we call the Dawson’s Creek star the queen of fall?

This relaxed fit coat that's knee length is slightly oversized, which makes it ideal to pair with a chunky sweater during colder days.
In addition to her always on-point fashion choices, the mother-of-one, who parents 16-year-old Suri alongside ex-husband Tom Cruise, recently made headlines after Deadline's announcement that she will be returning to a New York theater stage for the first time in a decade.
The actor is, in fact, set to star in a new Off Broadway play titled The Wanderers, scheduled to officially open in February of 2023 and running for about a month.
According to Deadline, the show "centers on Orthodox Jews Esther and Schmuli who are newly married, and their future written in the laws of the Torah." Abe is a famous writer and secular Jew who "believes he can write his own future until an unexpected email from a movie star puts his marriage to the test and threatens to prove him wrong." Said movie star, whose character is named Julia Cheever, will be played by real-life movie star Katie. No word yet on who will get to star as Abe.

Fans are ardently awaiting Katie next project, given that the last time they've seen her in a professional capacity was this past summer in her romantic drama Alone Together, which she wrote, directed and starred in. It premiered at the Tribeca Festival last summer.
Given that Katie has waited this long to re-appear on a theater stage, we expect The Wanderers to quickly become an absolute must-see .
