Holly Willoughby is a fashion icon. And her latest outfit channels another style icon - the late Princess of Wales.

Holly, 39, paid tribute to Princess Diana on Saturday by wearing a version of the sheep jumper the late Princess first wore at a polo match in 1980. One of the many iconic jumpers that are being replicated and released online.

The iconic jumper has seen a resurgence in popularity since series 4 of The Crown started airing on Netflix and a version of it has been re-released by Warm and Wonderful in collaboration with Rowing Blazers.

And, Holly’s tribute didn’t go unnoticed by fans, with one fan likening Holly to Princess Diana - who tragically died in a car accident in 1997.

“Our modern day Princess of the People… one of a kind,” one wrote.

Another said, “The Diana sweater!!”

A third said, “Channeling princess diana!! Love this.”

The iconic jumper has been so hugely popular that the sweater is available for pre-order only and can be expected to be delivered by February-March 2021.

According to the women behind the brand, Joanna Osborne and Sally Muir - each sweater takes "approximately six hours" to make and is done to order, just for you.

It's hard to believe but Holly recently admitted that there was a time when she wasn't so fashionable.

Speaking to Red, she explained, "For a long time, I was pretty clueless. There’s a picture of me on the red carpet when I first started in TV and I’m wearing a brown belted cord skirt, a brown cord jacket, fishnet tights and a weird round toe shoe.

"What was I thinking? But I’ve grown to like clothes more the older I’ve got and I now recognise the importance of having key staples that fit well in your wardrobe."
