This royal wedding dress has been crowned most popular of last decade, and it's not Kate Middleton's

Meghan Markle’s wedding dress has secured the top spot for the most popular wedding dress in the last decade, according to a new report.

Royal weddings seem to always be shrouded with some mystery to make the big day that much greater. When Meghan’s wedding dress was finally revealed on May 19, 2018, the elegant gown designed by Givenchy’s Clare Waight Keller was such a crowd-pleaser it’s still receiving attention today. 

With wedding season still in full swing, brides and guests have been looking for inspiration for what to wear to a wedding. To determine the most popular styles, the gift specialists at FindMeAGift.com analyzed the average monthly searches for celebrity wedding dresses. Meghan Markle took the crown with an average of 21,900 monthly searches. 

Keller wanted to design a timeless look for Meghan, which featured a boat neckline, three-quarter sleeves, and a fitted waist. The sleek lines added into the look also helped bring a sense of modernity to her wedding look. In past royal wedding dresses, lace has been a central theme incorporated into the dress, but for Markle, she kept her appearance smooth and lace-free. Instead, she added lace components into her veil to help keep up with tradition.

It may come as a surprise that the Duchess of Cambridge’s fairytale wedding gown did not top the chart, especially as most Kate Middleton dresses seem to be instant crowd-pleasers. It was a close call though as Kate took the second spot gaining 21,500 average searches for her wedding dress designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. 

Kate also infused her traditional dress with some modern touches. Her wedding dress featured a more vintage aesthetic with a v-neckline and sweetheart bodice overlaid with lace. The Victorian-inspired gown was also designed with a narrower waist that was met with a full skirt. 

Though these two royals topped the list, among other most-searched celebrity wedding dresses was model Hailey Baldwin Bieber with 5,800 searches. She wed pop singer Justin Bieber back in 2018 in a Virgil Abloh designed gown. The look featured an off-white almost sheer fabric and body hugging figure complete with lace and a dramatic low-back. 

Singer Ariana Grande landed fourth on the list with 2,400 searches. She surprised fans back in May of this year when she posted photos from her secret wedding to real estate developer Dalton Gomez. The singer was married in a custom Vera Wang gown that featured an empire waist, sculpted neckline, and open back. 

The fifth slot was taken by another pop singer, Ellie Goulding with 1,600 average monthly searches. She married her art dealer beau Caspar Jopling back in 2019 wearing a custom-made Chloé gown. The dress holds sentimental value as it was designed with a ruffled lace collar and silk tulle veil, both of which were embroidered with the newlyweds' initials. She also went a more traditional route with long sleeves and a full skirt.

It seems the royal family still remains some of the most on-trend in the fashion realm, even years after their unforgettable weddings.
