Fearne Cotton reveals dramatic hair transformation, but there's a tragic reason behind the new look

Fearne Cotton has taken to social media to share her dramatic pink hair transformation, however, the presenter has revealed this new look is in tribute to her late friend Lyndell Mansfield.

Fearne Cotton debuted her new pink long hairstyle on Instagram in a sweet post dedicated to her friend. The image showed off the presenter's dusky pink hair which was styled into loose curls and clashed perfectly with her a lime green dress which she paired with orange and purple strappy sandals.

The caption of the post read, "Gone pink in honour of my mate Lyndell. I’m thinking of you Lyndy and promise to seek the colour and fun in life always."

Just a few days before this dramatic hair change, Fearne took to Instagram to reveal to followers that her close friend had sadly passed away.

In the post, Fearne said, "Lyndell 💕 I’m not sure I’m going to find the words here. It’s all too heavy. I’m not sure I’ve ever met a more vibrant, beautiful, positive soul in my life. When I picture you you’re dancing. Hair bouncing with your megawatt grin."

"I have the most wonderful memories of drinking tea in your kitchen whilst you used your innate skill to cut and colour my hair from bright pink to white blonde. One time we even did a spot of hoola hooping in the garden afterwards."

"I will never forget sitting in my kitchen with you on the day of my first date with Jesse. You calmed my nerves and gave me the cheekiest wink on the way out. I’ll never forget your kindness and ability to have fun in any situation."

Lyndell was a London-based Australian hairstylist who was well known for curating celebrity looks and worked in both the fashion and music industries. 

A post from Dazed confirmed the stylist's passing and highlighted her unforgettably stylish wardrobe choices, bright pink curly hair, and 'larger than life' personality. 

It was this bold hair color of Lyndell's that Fearne decided to emulate in order to pay tribute to her late friend.

For a long time, Fearne has been known for her bright blonde hair color, which is typically cut into a mid-length medium hairstyle.

However, her new pink look is set to be one of 2021's biggest hair color trends and is also a look that Fearne has experimented with previously during her Top of the Pops days and even more recently during the lockdown in 2020.
