Julie Powell
Julie Powell is a hugely experienced health and wellness writer and editor. Over the past 30 years, she has worked for national newspapers, BBC radio, expert-led health apps and a range of well-known women's magazines including Simply Woman & Home, Women’s Weekly, Good Housekeeping, Red and Prima.
She has written about both physical and emotional wellbeing, covering everything from the power of female friendships and how to give your marriage a midlife makeover to sexual health for grown-ups, perimenopause, positive ageing and breast cancer.
She has worked with leading doctors, nutritionists and psychologists to make even the most complex subjects readable and understandable, and her work has been recognised by the Medical Journalists’ Association. She has also worked on high profile campaigns with a number of national health charities, including the National Osteoporosis Society. A career highlight was meeting its president, the then Duchess of Cornwall, now Queen Camilla.
Julie decided to specialise in health and wellbeing after having her first child (she was the launch features editor on Prima baby magazine), as she wanted to find out more about how to eat and exercise better to support women’s bodies through different life stages including parenthood, fertility and menopause.
She has three children and lives in Tunbridge Wells, where she walks her dog every day and attends weekly pottery and Pilates and yoga classes to learn new skills and help her mind and body to age well.
