The inauguration of new US President Joe Biden took place yesterday in Washington DC and it seems Prince Harry was present in one way.

It’s been reported that Queen Elizabeth II had already sent the new president a private letter prior to the event. However, it’s her grandson, Prince Harry, who has got royal fans excited.

Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex famously announced they were stepping down as senior members of the Royal Family last year. The Sussexes then made the move to America where they have now settled in Santa Barbara, California with young son Archie.

In light of this, some royal fans might have hoped for a glimpse of Prince Harry and his American wife Meghan around the time of this huge US occasion. And in one sense, they were not disappointed.

Eagle-eyed inauguration viewers might just have caught a glimpse of the Duke of Sussex in full military uniform - well, sort of…

Did Prince Harry attend President Biden’s inauguration?

Prince Harry did not actually attend President Biden’s inauguration. However, as one royal fan Instagram user noticed, he was there in some small way. Posting a series of pictures, the royal fan account @_Duchess_of_Sussex shared an image of President Joe Biden along with Bill and Hillary Clinton.

More from Woman and Home:

In the background of the shot, helpfully circled by the account user, is Prince Harry. A picture of Prince Harry at the Arlington Cemetary in 2013 can be seen hanging on the wall behind the US politicians.

The Duke of Sussex is wearing military uniform - as the account wrote in the caption: ‘Harry is truly a military man through and through! So nice seeing him in the background :).’

Do Prince Harry and President Joe Biden know each other?

This glimpse of Prince Harry, albeit in photographic form, has nonetheless delighted royal fans. As the account user went on to reveal, the two have met on several previous occasions.

‘The Bidens have showed so much love for the Sussexes over the years and Kamala most recently,’ they wrote. ‘Mr and Dr Biden have been supportive of Harry’s Invictus Games event since the very first one in 2014. After that year, both the Bidens and Obamas continued to have a close connection to the Invictus Games.’

Whilst Prince Harry was not able to vote in the 2020 US Presidential Election, it’s understood that his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex did. The Duchess has previously spoken out about the importance of voting.

During a special television appearance with Prince Harry last year, the Duchess of Sussex said: “when we vote, our values are put into action and our voices are heard. Your voice is a reminder that you matter, because you do and you deserve to be heard."

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently launched their new podcast Archewell Audio. The venture will reportedly bring podcast listeners new voices and perspectives they might not have heard before.

We look forward to listening to the next episode!
