The Beach House by Jane Green
Wednesday 16th July 2008
Each week we will review a different book. Here we review The Beach House by Jane Green out now in paperback (£16.99, Penguin).
Yet another unmistakably, compelling read from the queen of chick-lit, Jane Green. It tells the story of Nan, a free-spirited independent widow who lives alone in her beloved beach house.
Her children have flown the nest and she lives quite contently on her own until one day she discovers that she could lose her home due to poor finances.
The only way to keep a roof over her head is to rent her spare rooms out for the summer. The ultimate summer read, this book is filled with its fair share of laughter and tears.
It is compelling, absorbing and poignant and the twists in every chapter make it a real page-turner. It's Jane Green at her best.
